Evaluative selection in multimerit situations

Nicholas Rescher

pp. 13-17

Abstract

When an object of evaluation exhibits various distinct modes of merit, combining these separate aspects into one overall result becomes a vexing problem in value theory and economics. The paper argues that there can be no one-size-fits-all mode of resolution here. Different approaches are available and the particular sort of context at issue has the final say in deciding which way to go.
