Instabilities in nonlinear dynamics
paradigms for self-organization
pp. 212-244
Abstract
This paper is concerned with aspects of nonlinear dynamics which may (but indeed may not) have bearing on our ultimate understanding of living matter. It is concerned with dynamical self-organization as well as with aspects of disorganization. A main theme is to show that rather simple causes can have complex effects. These complex consequences are all self-organized in so far as they arise as consequences of the equations governing a dynamics which is stimulated in very simple ways.
