Abstract

The major purpose of this chapter is to develop a full critique of Bourdieu's contribution, by reviewing the areas of criticisms which his work has already attracted and by suggesting an alternative theoretical position. We conclude by reviewing Bourdieu's new work in order to consider the directions his work is likely to follow in the future.
