The truth of statements

Richard J. Campbell

pp. 182-211

Abstract

Not only are assertions — speech-acts of statement-making — appraised for their truth, so also are the statements made. Indeed, the word "true" is used more often in connection with statements than with the speech-acts which promulgate them.
