Abstract

According to the theme of ICCS 2006, I will revisit the old inspirations behind the development of modern knowledge representation and conceptual modelling techniques, showing how the recent results of formal ontological analysis can help addressing still unsolved problems, such as semantic interoperability and cognitive transparency.
