The natural and reasonable character of the belief in an intelligent author of the universe
pp. 297-307
Abstract
Hume's critical analysis of natural religion severely limits the excessive claims that have traditionally been made in favor of the argument from design. The belief in an intelligent author of the world survives such a critical scrutiny, however. What is the origin of the tenacious and recalcitrant hold that such a belief exercises on our minds?
