The justification of the application of science

Bart Gremmen

pp. 315-323

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyze the justification of the application of science. First I will present two well-known kinds of justification in the field of the philosophy of science: methodological and transcendental justification. Then I will describe a third kind of justification which is connected with the hermeneutics of science and other practices. Finally, I will argue that a practice perspective offers a possible integration of the three kinds of justification mentioned.
