Reflexive asymmetry

Hegel's most fundamental methodological ruse

pp. 154-173

Abstract

The paper here printed was given to the Philosophical Seminar of Freiburg University in Western Germany in June 1971. It was not intended to be an essay in heavy scholarship, but a philosophical interpretation and defence of some of Hege's basic logical principles in modern terms and a modern context. Hence the absence of detailed documentation : those familiar with the Logic will know that what are being dealt with are whole stretches of the Dialectic, long studied at close quarters and now seen from a considerable distance.
