Cristian CIOCAN (Habil. University of Bucharest 2015, Ph.D. University of Paris IV – Sorbonne 2009, Ph.D. University of Bucharest 2006; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-5372-6409) is a member of the Doctoral School in Philosophy of the University of Bucharest, and senior scientific researcher (CS I) at the Institute of the University of Bucharest (ICUB). He is President of the Romanian Society for Phenomenology (founded in 2000), Vice-President of the Central and East European Society for Phenomenology (CEESP), and Editor-in-Chief of the journal Studia Phaenomenologica. He was a Research Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation at the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg and of the New Europe College. He was Principal Investigator in the following research projects: “The Body In-Between” (2010–2013); “Phenomenological Approaches to the Anthropological Difference” (2015–2017); “The Structures of Conflict: A Phenomenological Approach to Violence” (2017–2019); “Imagistic violence. A phenomenological approach” (2021–2023). He is currently the Scientific Manager of the project „The Life of the Heart: Phenomenology of Body and Emotions” (project director: prof. dr. Natalie Depraz, 2023–2026). Latest book: "Violență și animalitate. Explorări fenomenologice" (Spandugino & Zeta Books, 2022).
